This guide helps you get ready for SnapAction beta access: what you need before an invite, what access SnapAction asks for, which screenshots to test first, and how the 30 free monthly scans work.
Before you start
Use this guide to prepare for SnapAction beta access. SnapAction turns iPhone screenshots into action-ready resource cards with AI. It is useful when your camera roll contains articles, products, GitHub repos, places, events, receipts, invoices, or travel details that you want to organize later.
You need:
- an iPhone that can install TestFlight apps
- Apple’s TestFlight app from the App Store
- a SnapAction beta invitation when access is available
- screenshots you are comfortable testing
- awareness that selected scans may use backend AI analysis
For sensitive screenshots, read the privacy policy and screenshot handling FAQ before scanning.
Steps
-
Install Apple’s TestFlight app on the iPhone you plan to use for SnapAction.
-
When you receive a SnapAction beta invitation, open it on the device and accept the invite in TestFlight.
-
Install SnapAction through TestFlight.
-
Open SnapAction and grant the screenshot or Photos access requested by the app.
-
Scan a small first batch instead of your entire camera roll. Start with a few screenshots that each contain one obvious resource.
-
Review the generated resource cards. Check the detected type, title, URL when available, metadata, tags, screenshot links, and one-tap actions.
Verify it worked
A successful first test should produce at least one useful resource card from a clear screenshot. The card should help you identify what was captured and what action you can take next. Good first screenshots include a GitHub repo page, a post mentioning a repo, an article title, a product page, a travel booking, an event flyer, a contact card, or an invoice.
SnapAction intentionally tries to extract the primary resource rather than every incidental piece of text. Screenshots with multiple unrelated items, cropped titles, low contrast, or unclear context may produce less useful cards.
Privacy and scan selection
Choose test screenshots deliberately. A beta test is most useful when the screenshot contains enough visible context to evaluate extraction quality, but not more sensitive information than you are comfortable processing. Start with low-risk examples such as public articles, public GitHub repositories, product pages, event flyers, and travel confirmations that you can review safely.
Avoid scanning screenshots that contain private messages, passwords, financial details, health information, or confidential work unless you have reviewed the current privacy policy and are comfortable with the processing path. If you are testing for a work project, follow your organization’s data handling rules before sending screenshots for AI analysis.
Common issues
The screenshot does not become a useful card. Try a screenshot where the main title, repo name, URL, event date, place, or product name is visible. SnapAction works best with clear primary resources.
The link was not recovered. Missing-link recovery depends on enough visible context for search and URL verification. Some titles or cropped screenshots may be ambiguous.
I am worried about sensitive screenshots. Only scan screenshots you are comfortable sending for backend AI analysis. Review the privacy policy and screenshot handling FAQ before scanning sensitive content.
I hit a quota limit. The Free tier includes 30 scans per month. Pro and Max raise monthly scan limits to 1,000 and 5,000; App Store prices are shown in-app.
